A Book of Fantasy Maps
by Laurels Primary School Students
Colorful hand-drawn maps and stories to go with them lead to a deeply immersive read. Read about and view places such as Guinea Pig Island, the town of Bovobecbor, or the book snake hotel. Or, try using these maps to imagine your own story!
— Simon Traub-Epstein, International Library of Young Authors
From the publisher: “Young writers from Little Green Pig's Worthing Club at The Laurels Primary School dreamt up their own worlds and created A Book of Fantasy Maps in Summer 2024. This book shares new original worlds designed by the children aged 7 to 11 alongside extracts of the stories they wrote about these unique lands. From guinea pig islands to territories inhabited by mythical monsters, the children created their own maps with the support of Brighton author/illustrator Helen Cann (author of Hand Drawn Maps) who visited to share her expertise plus workshop leader Rayna Haralambieva and Story Mentors. Inspired by a project conceived by Natalie England. Supported thanks to funding from Fonthill Foundation.”
