From the publisher: “In 1993 First Exposures was born from a small group of concerned photographers in San Francisco to become the only mentoring program in the area to offer free weekly photography classes to at-risk youth ages 11—18. In 1996 First Exposures became part of San Francisco Camerawork and has since become nationally recognized as a model for many other similar programs.
