In preparation for building a second 826 Valencia center in San Francisco, we developed a variety of writing programs for youth at the Boys and Girls Club Tenderloin Clubhouse, Glide Family, Youth, and Childcare Center, De Marillac Academy, Tenderloin Community School, and Bessie Carmichael Elementary School (in collaboration with Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Precita Eyes Muralists). With the help of our incredibly dedicated and inspiring volunteers and interns, students became vital members of a writing community.
