Haunted Ink and Love

by White Rock Elementary School Students

Group poems, letters, gratefulness exercises, stories and more. Be spooked by cloudy days, silent forests, dark wood cabins, and deadly chainsaws. Have you heard the tale of the magic quill?

— Simon Traub-Epstein, International Library of Young Authors

From the introduction by April Pelleta “Working with the young writers at White Rock Elementary was a lesson in love a reminder why I love to teach writing. For ten Mondays we met, we read, we wrote and we shared our work. Every Monday these Inkers arrived ready to scratch stories and poems onto blank paper. They raged, laughed, and wrote until the pens stopped working-until I had to bring new ones. Their enthusiasm was roar-worthy—by no means were they a quiet bunch. They were bold. Their energy was electric. Contagious. Beautiful.”
