Our Greatest Hits

by Helen Bernstein High School Students

Sing along to these student reflections on music and memory. Stories of young love, siblings, and growing up are presented through the lens of an important song or favorite artist who has gotten these authors through the ups and downs of life. Read about chore playslists that provide much needed motivation, powerful songs that got students through isolating times, and power of music to transcend time and connect listeners across long distances

— Simon Traub-Epstein, International Library of Young Authors

From the publisher: “The book you hold in your hand is the result of the continued partnership among 826LA, Paramount Pictures, and students from schools on the Helen Bernstein High School campus. For a third year, 826LA was invited once again to partner with the Paramount Pictures Kindergarten to Cap & Gown mentorship program. Through this program, employees from Paramount Pictures have provided more than 10,000 hours of mentoring to 500 students at Helen Bernstein High School, Le Conte Junior High School, and Santa Monica Boulevard Community Charter School and STEM Academy over the last 10 years. By designing lesson plans and leading hybrid in-person and virtual sessions, 826LA supported Paramount mentors as they connected with their students through storytelling. The results of those sessions, the experiences shared, and the connections made, are the stories found in this book.”
