Portraits of Immigrant Voices

Stories of Richmond, Virginia Immigrants

Author Joe Kutchera, artist Alfonso Pérez Acosta, and designer Tida Tep worked alongside the Asian American Society of Central Virginia to create this book focused on the true stories of Richmond, Virginia immigrants for the Society's 24th Annual Asian American Celebration. Personal histories craft a biography of each participant, and portraits are inspired by the colors of each subject's home country's flag. In this appreciation of culture and diversity hear of fostering peace, reasons to move across the world, messages to citizens of Virginia, and why it's never too late to change the path of your life.

— Simon Traub-Epstein, International Library of Young Authors
