Resistance: My Story of Activism

by Frantzy Luzincourt

From the publisher:

“Right after he graduated college in 2020, Frantzy Luzincourt and his friends were devastated and outraged by the murder of George Floyd. Together, they established Strategy for Black Lives, which helps organize BLM protests and is mobilizing a grassroots movement for racial justice by lobbying lawmakers and advocating for concrete legislative change.

Frantzy was born in Brooklyn to parents who were Haitian immigrants. He grew up within a flourishing Caribbean community in the neighborhoods of East Flatbush and Canarsie. Frantzy was the founding president of his predominantly white high school's first-ever Black Student Union. He then went on to become student body president during his senior year in the Macaulay Honors College at City University of New York. With each position, Frantzy grew as an activist, educating his peers on Black culture, police brutality, racism and discrimination, and the fight for racial equity.

With a voice that is both accessible and engaging, Frantzy brings forward a captivating account of his experiences and challenges as a young Black man and his growth into a public leader. In Resistance, a young writer opens a window for young readers into equity, activism, and empowerment in America.”
