by Lake Erie Ink Youth Authors

This cookbook has it all. Desserts, pastas, salads, pasta salads, pies, dips, and more. Throughout this book of recipes and poetry, you'll learn to make butterscotch brownies, peach cobbler, mac & cheese, pizza dough, taco casserole, boiled wax beans, and more. Yum!

— Simon Traub-Epstein, International Library of Young Authors

From the foreword by Quartez Harris: “This cookbook's theme is ‘Place and Palate,’ and the stories and recipes inside will take you around the world. Lake Erie Ink's Creative Community Challenge began in 2020 as a way to bring people together during an isolating time. Each challenge culminated in an anthology of writing and art based on a common theme. This summer's challenge, Stirring Stories, grew to new heights. To encourage submissions and extend the challenge even further, several local restaurants hosted a series of writing workshops throughout the summer, From Ohio City to Slavic Village, Public Square to the Heights, participants gathered to meet chefs and cooks and write about their own experiences with food and place - some of which are featured in this book. As part of the project, Lake Erie Ink wrote with friends and strangers at community gardens, parks, fairs, and festivals. The recipes, writing, and art in these pages come from community members of all ages and backgrounds, sharing some of the people and places they love best.”
